The memorial is inscribed as follows:
To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of Actg. Company Sergt. Major R. W. Anderson of the 1/5 West Yorks (T) Regiment who fell in the midst of his men on September 28th 1916, while taking the Schwaben Redoubt on the Somme and fell asleep on October 18th1916 in No. 3 Casualty Clearing Station in France, Aged 25 years. Esteemed by Officers, Comrades, and Friends for his true Christian character, and faithfulness to duty. I will go forth in the strength of the Lord. Erected by Nora A. Myers. Jan. 7th 1917.

To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of Pte Walker Arrowsmith, Northumberland Fus. Who was killed in action. France. April 9th 1917. Aged 26 years. From his loving wife Ina. A beautiful memory left behind.

To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of Private Hugh Nichol Broadbent, 1st 5th West Yorkshire Regiment, Killed in Action at Ypres, Flanders, November 14th 1915. Aged 23 years. He laid down his life for his friend. This tablet is erected by his sorrowing parent.

The memorial is inscribed as follows:
To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of Signaller George Thompson, Royal Garrison Artillery, The beloved son of George and Mary Thompson of 10 Leeman Road, York, who died of wounds in France Nov. 6th 1917. Aged 20 years. A true Christian, a good son, a brave soldier, He was ready when the call came. I will give you rest.
George Thompsons memorial was originally placed in the Railway Mission, Welton Street, York. When the premises were vacated in 1936 the Vicar of St Barnabas Church applied for permission to move it to its current location. This information was taken from the United Kingdom National Inventory of War Memorials.
