The Bolton Percy War Memorial
The Bolton Percy memorial has suffered from weathering and most of the names on the front and side panels are illegible. All of the names have been added to the plaque which has been added to front of it.

Lawson-Smith, Thomas Edward
Lieutenant, 13th Hussars. Killed in action 1st November 1914. Aged 25. Son of Edward Maule Lawson-Smith, of Colton Lodge, Tadcaster, Yorkshire, and the late Ethel Mary Lawson-Smith. Commemorated on the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial, Belgium, Panel 5.
Lawson-Smith, John
Lieutenant, 1st Bn., West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own). Killed in action 20th October 1914. Aged 22. Son of Mr. E.M. Lawson-Smith, of Colton Lodge, Tadcaster, Yorkshire. Commemorated on the Le Touret Memorial, Pas de Calais, France, Panel 9 and 10.
Mason, Joseph
Driver L/19958, "D" Battery. 161st Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Died 1st July 1916. Aged 22. Son of John and Martha Mason, of Colton, Tadcaster, Yorkshire. Buried in the Bouzincourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France, II. D. 9.
Barter, William
Gunner 44746, "A" Battery, 103rd Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Died 24th July 1916. Buried in Peake Wood Cemetery, Fricourt, Somme, France, A. 11. William Barter was born in Chelmsford, Essex and enlisted in York, he was awarded the Military Medal.
Smith, Arthur Waite
Gunner 141162, C Battery, 66th Brigade, Royal Field Artillery. Killed in action 14th April 1917. Aged 22. Son of Francis and Mary Smith, of Thornton, Melbourne, York. Commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq, Panel 3 and 60. Arthur Smith was born in Cawood and enlisted in Tadcaster.
Blakely, Percy
Private 36733, 2nd/5th Bn., West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own). Died 26th March 1918. Aged 26. Son of Henry and Anne Blakey, of Ivy Cottage, Colton, Tadcaster, Yorks. Commemorated on the Arras Memorial, Pas de Calais, France, Bay 4
Gilman, Arthur Ivan
Private 377029, Private 16th Bn., Manchester Regiment. Died 21st March 1918. Aged 24. Son of Arthur Gilman, of 49, Low St., Hoxne, Diss, Norfolk; husband of Lily Gilman, of Bilbrough, York. Commemorated on the Pozieres Memorial, Somme, France, Panel 64 to 67. Arthur's second name is shown as Irwin on the CWGC database.
Fountain, Alfred
Private 10804, 9th Bn., West Yorkshire Regiment (Prince of Wales's Own). Killed in action 9th August 1915. Commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey, Panel 47 to 51. Alfred Fountain was born in Toulston, Tadcaster, he enlisted in York and was a resident of Bolton Percy.
Daniel, James William Gordon
Private PLY/14452, Royal Marine Light Infantry, H.M.S. "M20.". Died 6th September 1915. Aged 27. Awarded the Medal of the Order of St. Stanislas (Russia). Son of the late Annie Daniel, of Bolton Percy, Yorks. Commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, 7.

Son of John and Elizabeth Horner; husband of Mabel Horner, of Colton, Yorkshire. Commemorated on the Rangoon Memorial, Myanmar, Face 8. He is also commemroated on the Appleton Roebuck War Memorial.

Warriner, John Thomas
Leading Aircraftman 615941, 214 Squadron, Royal Air Force. Died 13th December 1939. Aged 24. Son of James and Mary Hannah Warriner, of Bolton Percy. Buried in Bolton Percy (All Saints) Churchyard.
